Addition to my Adopted Extended Family :-)
Introducing new addition to my adopted and extended family — a photo-gear from Nikon. Recently purchased this new medium range zoom lens Nikon 55-200 mm AF-S DX VR Lens. Lots of positive reviews about this lens by Ken Rockwell and Thom Hogan. The only grudge I have about this lens is it has plastic mount and too thin focus ring.
I purchased the lens from Shetala Cameras. If you live in Bangalore then I would strongly recommend to visit them whenever you purchase your next photography gear. Specifically, their branch at Mantri Square mall at Malleswaram. Contact Mr. Steve at the shop.. very knowledgeable, hears out your need before suggesting or recommending a product and doesn’t push always to improve company’s top line. Oh, yes, they are also authorized reseller of Canon too.
I’m yet to take this baby out on a photo shootout and eagerly looking for our upcoming travel. We’ll be on a trip to Eastern Himalaya (Gangtok, Sikkim, north Sikkim precisely and further up) by end of December and hopefully will be able to capture some good snaps of Himalayan peaks and post here. Its going to be freezing cold (brrrrr..) with snowfall and subzero temperature almost everywhere in the region. And our physical displacement during those days will be mostly vertical.. so I will be updating my Facebook wall with altitude info!
Our trip will include Nathu-La pass (14400 ft, near Indo-China border), Tsomgo lake (12400 ft), Lachung (8160 ft), Yumthang Valley (11800 ft), Yumesamdong Valley or Zero Point close to Tibet Border (15000 ft), Lachen (9400 ft) and in and around Ganktok.
Let’s keep fingers crossed so that everything goes well!
